Haddam Hounds Orange |
The origin of the Haddam Hounds name dates back to the 20's. According to legend, one of the local businessmen used to
ask the morning after a game, "Well, how did those hounds do?" Thus the name was created and remained through 1966.
Orange and Black
Orange and black were apparently the school colors from the start.
| 1945 | The hot-lunch program started at the high school. To help start the program, each student had to furnish his/her own
knife, fork, spoon, plate, bowl, sauce dish, glass, and cup.
Mothers donated tea towels for use in the always cramped,
always hot kitchen. Mothers would get together to can donated fruits and vegetables until the federal lunch program nixed that procedure. The first kitchen was converted from the girls' dressing room. When the Vocational Ag boys killed a hog for butchering practice the Mothers Club would can the meat for use in the hot-lunch program. | ||||||||||||
